My [Mom’s] Best Friend’s Wedding

Kara, my mom’s best friend from the past 25 years, got married last night.  Guess who she married?  My mom’s high school prom date, Jerry.  No joke.  So, my mom’s best guy friend (Jerry) married my mom’s best girl friend (Kara).  How sweet is that?!  Guess where they met?  At my mom’s fiftieth thirtieth birthday bash my sister and I threw her two years ago.  Can we throw a party or what?

Words to describe the ceremony:   Intimate.  Casual.  Upbeat.

It was at a park, under a gazebo with a beautiful view behind.  Super casual.  Super beautiful.   Super awesome to see two people make each other so happy.

Before the ceremony, Jerry shared a moment with his boys.

The wedding party & new family!

Doesn't she look so excited!?

Yay! Married!

I loved that the groom's sister brought these colorful streamers!

After the quaint little ceremony, we headed to get some chow at P.F. Changs – where Jerry proposed.  They did a double-pinky-promise to love each other forever.  How cute is that?

Jerry’s sister gave them a really beautiful frame with the following quote in it:
"When I meditated on the word GUIDANCE, I was drawn to “dance” at the end of the word.  I reflected upon how God’s will is a lot like dancing.  When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.  The movement doesn’t flow with the music and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.  When one person realizes this and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music.  One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.  It’s as if two become one body, moving beautifully.  The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance from another.
My eyes drew back to the word GUIDANCE.  When I saw “G,” I thought of God, followed by “u” and “i.”
“God,  “u” and “I” dance”
God, You and I dance.
Thus statement is what guidance means to me.  As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life.  Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

Beautiful, right?  Okay, now go put on your thinking cap and ponder that for a while J

P.S. The reception will actually be at my parents’ house this June.  More on that later.  I’m decorating so you better believe you’ll be reading more about it.
